Weekly Tunes (2)

This week marks the continuation of my indie tunes, and I think you should check out:

American Authors

So I don't even remember where or when I had stumbled upon these guys, but the other day I had these some song lyrics stuck in my head for the longest and I couldn't figure out where they had came from, so I went to google and found out it was from the 'Best Day Of My Life' song, which I had watched a silly video for a while back. I ended up listening to more of their songs, and I really liked them; there's an awesome vibe from them that makes me think they'd put on a really fun show.

Check out their video Believer (which was filmed in Brooklyn so of course I connect deeply!) :

So what are your thoughts on these lads? Gonna give them more of a listen? I recommend their songs Hit It, Luck and Best Day Of My Life, those are definitely some of my favorites!

Ditzy Print

With a very busy day and current lack of tripod, I was left to photograph my outfit in my dorm room. Probably not the best setting for my outfit of the day, but you've gotta work with what you have, right? I simply love this dress, and I teamed it with my mulberry bag and asos brogues. I also receive a lot of compliments and a couple whistles so I guess the outfit isn't too bad on the eyes, hahaha.

Dress Urban Outfitters | Bag Mulberry | Brogues Asos | Jumper Topshop

I had a pretty late night in the photo lab, so I grabbed my Topshop cropped knit jumper to throw over my dress for when it started to get chilly.

S is for Suffolk

I wish I was exaggerating when I say that I was at lunch when I saw these beauties get released and may or may not have shouted! This bag is absolutely gorgeous, and knocks the mulberry bayswater to #2 bag on my wish list. I can't wait to get back to NYC so I can see these in person. The suffolk are going for quite a hefty price, so I guess I better start saving now!

Whats your thoughts on Mulberry's new release?

Tasteful Tartan

If you haven't already snatched up a series of Tartan patterned items for this fall, then you're behind the times, and I suggest you do so soon, before they're all gone! I've become an absolute die hard fan of the print and I'm trying to get my hand on every cute item I can find!

I loved how these people styled the print, from full outfits to patterned coats:

Here are some ways I'd style my own tartan pieces, if i can finally get my hands on them:

My tartan love started sometime last month, but my mind was blown when Danielle Bernstein styled my favorite tartan piece, the Zara mini skirt, in one of her post:

Like how absolutely gorgeous is this ensemble?! I'm simply dying to recreate it when my the post arrives with my mail!

If you're looking to get on this trend then Zara is definitely your one stop destination. They've been quite on point with the items they've released and I kind of want it all.

If you've got any favorite tartan pieces or outfits, I'd love to hear about them, so let me know!

Quiet in the 'Cuse

After a stressful week, a much needed R&R awaited me this weekend! My roommate and friends all happen to be going out of town or away this weekend so I've got my room to myself, all the junk food I could need and a load of homework to get ahead on.

NYFW | LFW

With Milan Fashion Week coming to a close, and Paris Fashion Week starting on the 24th, I wanted to take the chance to catch up and show you guys some of my favorite looks from #NYFW and #LFW!

Like all the years prior, NYFW started with a bang and did not disappoint! Designers took the fashion industry by storm with some flawless showcases and ensembles. I'm still pretty torn up about not being able to get back to the city this year for the events (blame college!!) but if I ever got the opportunity to go to any of the shows I definitely would have made a stop at BCBG, Rebecca Minkoff, Rag & Bone, Alexander Wang, Tibi, Victoria Beckham, Allsaints, Opening Ceremony, 3.1 Philip Lim, Vera Wang, Sass and Bide, and of course Jeremy Scott's eccentric show, ft. Rita Ora!

Some favorites of #NYFW (Clockwise from top left): BCBG, Beckham, Rag & Bone,
3.1 Philip Lim, Alexander Wang, Tibi (2x) and Sass and Bide
If you couldn't tell, I've got a tiny (massive) obsession with the monochrome trend that blew up s/s13 and hasn't quite ended (and trust me, I'm not complaining). However, since falling in love with Danielle Bernstein's Baby got Blanc look, I couldn't help my heart eyes when I saw these pieces on the catwalk.

From Left to Right: Victoria Beckham, 3.1 Philip Lim, Sass and Bide, and Tibi
Jetting on over to London, their Fashion Week always hold a lot of promise, with shows from the likes of J.W. Anderson, House of Holland, Mulberry, Topshop Unique, Burberry Prorsum and Fashion East. It's no surprise that the lovely Cara Delevingne stole the show at many of the high-end events, and while some people will argue that she's overrated and talked about too much, I'd argue that if I was that good at my job, I'd want to be talked about too, #whoops (caution: this is a hate free zone).

From Left to Right: Burberry Prorsum, House of Holland, Mulberry (2x), and Topshop Unique (2x)
I'm absolutely obsessed over HoH. Henry had some gorgeous pieces and they were all quite eccentric, but never too over the top! (I do admit I am biased, because I love Henry Holland and his entire group of socialite friends... but that doesn't mean I can't notice perfection when I see it). I haven't fully wrapped my mind around the Topshop Unique and Mulberry shows yet either. Everything about each show was flawless, and I like to stick to black and white clothes, but Topshop Unique has me questioning my lack of blue items. Really all I can say is that my wish list has doubled in size, and I can already hear my wallet crying.

And there we have it, New York & London Fashion Week! I can't wait to see these pieces off the runway and onto some of my favorite bloggers and celebs, and I definitely can't wait until I get the honor to attend one of these awe-inspiring events. Fingers crossed to hopeful wishing!

Don't forget to let me know which shows and outfits were your favorite! If you had to could you decide on a top 5? Top 10?

Weekly Tunes (1)

I've decided that weekly, I'll bring attention to one musical artist/group on my blog, and I'm pretty excited about that. Not only will I get to talk about music and share it with you guys, but it'll also push me to look for more music, rather than waiting for someone else to show it to me. With that being said, the first of the Weekly Tunes post goes to:

The 1975

So a bit of intro into why I thought I'd post about the 1975: I don't really remember when I got into them but I'd listened to them from time to time, nothing too crazy, but Chocolate is one of my favorite songs by them, and if you know me at all, then you know that I love One Direction, so I just about lost it when harry tweeted these lyrics from Chocolate mid June:
Blah blah, time goes on, I continue to listen to them, and I really liked their sound, and just the melodic tone and pacing behind all their songs. Then they recently got feature on BBC (radio 1 holla!) Live Lounge, and what a plot twist, they covered One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful! It was basically game over for me at that point. No going back.

Watch the cover of WMYB here:

I definitely think you should give their album a listen and if you feel like it you could buy it on iTunes
(...or download it, #whoops)

Leather Weather

With autumn just around the corner, I've found myself gaining heaps of new style obsessions! One of them being leather. I simply can't stop buying leather pieces, I'm that obsessed. Pack away those oversized denim jackets and denim dungarees. The time for leather is upon us.

I love the way these people have gone about styling their leather pieces!

I'm planning to style some of the pieces I've ordered recently in similar ways, but of course with my own flourish.

If you're in the market to get your leather fix then look no further, because Topshop has some gorgeous leather pieces (when aren't they on point) that you're not gonna be able to resist! How could you possibly say no to these shorts?

I, myself, definitely need to cut back, if my bank statements are anything to go by, but I hope you're now eat, sleep and breathing leather like me!

Tell me some of your favorite leather pieces? Any stores or brands I should check out?
